Welcome to Pilates with Tamara
Pilates has the unique power to strengthen, heal and care for your body, mind and spirit, which I discovered during my own journey with Pilates. Based on the proven BASI (Body Arts and Science International) method, Pilates with Tamara will bring you these benefits in tailored 1:1 and group mat classes for all abilities.
I fell in love with movement from a very young age. I started ballet at 3 years old and was then accepted to a full-time ballet school at 11. I was able to use Pilates at school to play an important role in keeping my body fit and healthy in order to meet the demands of the rigorous training.
I went on to dance professionally in the UK with companies such as Birmingham Royal Ballet and English National Ballet as well as The Israel Ballet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal.
A serious back injury whilst dancing in Canada led me to halt my career. After back surgery I used a mixture of physiotherapy and intense Pilates to help rehabilitate and return to the stage.
It was all of this that made me realise how incredible Pilates can be in caring for our bodies. In 2016 I qualified as a BASI comprehensive Pilates instructor (BODY ARTS AND SCIENCE INTERNATIONAL). As a teacher I endeavour to help my clients find a deeper understanding of their own bodies and movement mechanics. I believe Pilates can be for everyone irrespective of age or ability. I love to help find a true balance of strength and flexibility whilst always exploring everyone’s individual needs closely.
My love of dance plays a huge role in my life and teaching, and I always enjoy incorporating dance and movement in my classes when I can.
When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my husband and two children who keep me very busy!
